Double Agent 0035 - Disguised Beyond Recognition by Secret Agent 0036

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Secret Agent 0036, please title your artwork, by leaving a comment in this post.

What do the rest of you think? Please evaluate this work and leave your comments in this post - can you suggest any more effects? Do you think that the artist... ahem... I meant to say, do you think Double Agent 0036, was successful in his aim to disguise Agent 0035, by making him unrecognizable to the rest of the double agents in Greenview, posing as unassumingly naive and innocuous Lower Secondary students?

Title:What is a best friend?

A best friend will be with you till the end.
A best friend will talk to you, cheer you up when you are blue.
A best friend will make you laugh when you cry
A best friend will never ever lie.
A best friend will be caring,
A best friend's love will be unerring.
A best friend will let you tag along,
she'll make you feel like you belong.
A best friend will never turn away,
You know she's here to stay.
A best friend knows what’s on your mind.
She knows just what she'll find!
A best friend is always true,
A best friend is Y-O-U!

Dear Complian Queen,

1. My childhood photo is available at http://www.grecoreport.com/images/Obese%20America1.jpg

2. You may certainly stop picking litter - JUST STOP LITTERING! Easy isn't it?

3. I absolutely agree with you - you are in Greenview to study and picking litter during curriculum time is a waste of YOUR "precious time", so perhaps your classmates should consider NOT conveniently dumping their rubbish onto the floor, so that they may use the "paid services" 64 year old grandparents to clean after them.

4. "Cleaners" is not an appropriate term to describe your elders - the offical job title is "OPERATIONS SUPPORT OFFICERS".

5. I fully concur with your statement - the SCHOOL pays them, not YOU; so please stop treating them as if you have evey right to enslave them with your litter and your condescending holier-than-thou attitude. :)

6. If you think that you can treat elderly senior citizens like inferior low class underdogs of our society - simply because your SCHOOL "pays" them - then I would have failed in my job as an educator, to imbue some semblance of humility and grace in you. Have you no compassion for your elders?

5. Yes, you have your pride too, so please show some pride in the state of cleanliness of YOUR classroom.

6. If you and your classmates do indeed have some sense of self-respect, as you have so confidently claimed, then where have you been hiding it? It's certainly not obvious from the state of your classroom. Have I not mentioned that respect is earned?

7. As I've mentioned during my introductory lesson (and every other week), I find it absolutely meaningless to "teach" Art to litterbugs and vandals, who have not respect for others and his own environment. Art is a subject virtually all of you will not pursue in your post-secondary education, but your character and the values you hold dear, will see you through your entire life - they are what you will bring with you to your grave, NOT the knowledge and skills you learn during my Art lessons.

8. I look forward to having more time to learn, just as much, so your classmates might consider starting each lesson, in an envireonment fit for human inhabitation - as you have all promised during my introductory lesson.

Dear Anonymous,

Don't think of me as having left you, I am merely "temporarily unavailable".

Had I told all my classes of my mission reassigment, I doubt the Friday classes would have handed in their posters the following week.

Well, you all found out anyway :)

Dear Complain Queen,

As a teenager who, according to researchers Piaget and Erikson, is going onto the next stage of conceptual development, you should gradually become less egocentric, and form a greater awareness of others around you.

Hence, you ought to realize that even if you are not responsible for how things have turned out (be it a littered classroom or country), you ought to be compelled, obligated as a civic minded and gracious, educated refined individual, to do what you can, to make things better, and not turn a blind eye to the situation and conveniently throw your hands up in the air and exasperate, "I'm not responsible for it, so why should I get involved?"

If one continues to live by such egocentric attitudes, then it'd be equally convenient to say, "why on earth should I help kidney failure patients, it's their problem, not mine!" or "I never told these people get cancer, so why must I volunteer to help the cancer society or show them any compassion?"

If every Singaporean were to harbour such indifferent attitudes towards his fellow countrymen, it'd be virtually impossible for VWOs (Voluntary Welfare Organizations) and charities like NKF and the Salvation Army, to survive in the long run.

So you see Complain Queen, it is not an issue of who's litter it is: rather, it concerns a much deeper issue of your beliefs and guiding principals, as an able-bodied and civic-minded member of the educated community.

Are you therefore going to shrug your shoulders at society's problems (be it littering or otherwise) just like your classmates and everybody else, or are you going to do something about it? Are you going to wait for someone else to have to tell you to clean your own living space, or do you have the conscience and personal conviction to say, "it is MY classroom, MY school and I am going to take reponsibility of MY space, even if none of my classmates want to!"

It is my duty as an educator, to ensure that I imbue values such as selflessness and compassion in everyone of my students - for in all of you, lies my future, my hopes, my dreams, of a better Singapore - the Singapore that I want and yearn for.

Whether you choose to live by these principles and practice them beyond the classroom, is a decision which is entirely yours to make, but I can at the very least assure myself, that I have discharged my responsibilty in the
hours that I have come into contact with you.

I fear what would become of the forgotten members of our society, if my Greenviewans were to grow up into intelligent, successful lawyers, architects and engineers, who have excelled in their studies and respective careers, but showed little concern for the environment and the less fortuante members of our society.

So yes, it is not fair that you have to clean up after your classmates, but is it any fairer to expect the elderly school attendants to do the same?

Remember Complain Queen, just because these poor elderly senior citizens are compensated with $600/month for their hard work, doesn't give anyone of us the right to make life increasingly difficult for them.

What goes around comes around. There are those who strongly believe in divine retribution. If one ill-treats his employees, he will one day be ill-treated by his employer.

If you think that it is perfectly fine to make life difficult for these elderly folk, simply because they are paid, then do not be offended if your future employer similarly harbours the same attitude, and he thinks that he has the right to ask for your life, simply because he pays you a salary - the only difference being, you will not have to clear trash disposed of by teenagers, but will instead have impossible deadlines to meet and unreasonable workhours and ridiculous demands by your boss from hell - all for what you will think is a miserable "few thousand dollars".

There are already abusive Singaporean employers who think that they have the divine right to do anything they wish to their domestic helpers (aka maids), simply because they pay them a few hundred dollars a month.

Our society has enough of such abusive employers, and we certainly do not need more. I can only pray that my Greenviewans do not contribute to this worrying trend.

If you are still unconvinced, then at least remember that every good and sincere deed or action, no matter how trivial it may seem, will be rewarded - and not necessarily by the teacher.
